Our Master Bedroom

Remember about a month back when I re-did our spare bedroom and I stole the comforter set from my master? Of course I HAD to get something else for my bedroom, right?!

It didn't take me very long to decide I wanted some blue in our room. We decided to check Ross first! How could you not?...they are soooo cheap! The first one my husband picked up, we loved! He even picked out perfectly matching decorative pillows too. I love him!

Just in case you forgot what the 'before' looked like...

And a close-up of the shelf...

Ya know, for over 2 years I loved everything about our room. And then one day it just changed and I was sick of it.....probably the day I brought home this.....

I JUST LOVE IT! Would you believe that I didn't have to buy anything to redecorate that shelf? I promise. I had every last bit of it in my decoration closet :) (which my husband wishes I would clean out) shhh

Folks, you don't have to spend a lot of money to change up a room. There are decorations out there for EVERY. BUDGET. Don't get discouraged. I spent less than $100 to get the new comforter set and pillows. And look at the drastic change!

Remember...if you see something that you absolutely can't live without and it's a great deal....BUY IT! Nine times out of ten, it won't be there when you go back for it.

I've learned that the hard way.....

Even if you don't have a use for it RIGHT. NOW....you will later! I promise.

Have you made any significant changes in a room lately on a small budget? I would love to hear about them!

Spring has Sprung!

I would like to think that I decorate for every single holiday. I have a box of decorations for each one! As much  as I thrift and rearrange, you would hope so. But who am I kidding?!

I don't.

Wish I did!!

This year was different. I was at the grocery store last night and happened to stroll down the seasonal isle. ALL EASTER ITEMS WERE 50 % OFF! I got excited. I picked up just a couple things and only spent $5.50. I'm pretty sure I dreamed of how my entry way table would look when I was done.

This was only $3.99! I love the fabric, country background with the stitching.

And this sweet little bunny was only $1.49. Perfect!

And believe it or not, those were the only 2 things I spent money on. Everything else I had on hand.  :)

Here is how it turned out...I LOVE IT.

See that beautiful pane-less (is that a word?) window? Scored that baby a couple weeks ago while decorating my friend's new apartment. Her landlord is the cutest old man ever and has piles of "beautiful treasures" out back. I was in heaven!

I got that mirror last summer at a yard sale in a set for only $7!!

The tin oiling can came from Montana antiquing adventures :)

The blocks that say, "Grow, Bloom, Flowers" are from a thrift store.

The lamp has been in my living room for almost a year now....stole that from my father-in-law's "shop" in Montana.

I just love how spring-y it is :)

Isn't that window gorgeous?! Fits in perfect for Spring/Easter.

On to the kitchen....I couldn't leave my hutch out!

I didn't do much...Just wanted to a touch here and there. I made those blocks last year with my sisters and finally get to use them!

Mr. Bunny stayed on the hutch in the kitchen. I pulled those lemons out of another fruit basket and put them in this white, antique vase.

Do you love that green rooster plate as much as I do? It looks so "country kitchen". Found that several months back at DI for about $1.

So, there ya have it. It's not much but at least my house doesn't feel so wintery anymore! I'm grateful that the sunshine has arrived! Let's hope it stays for a while :)

And...one more look! Just because I love it so much! :)

HAPPY SPRING Y'ALL!!!!

New Life to an Old Shelf

Over the weekend, I went thrifting with my awesome Aunt Jen. We checked out DI and Saver's (another local thrift store). Normally, I don't find anything at Saver's. I find that in most cases, they are way over priced! This time was a different story.

I was pretty excited to find this ugly, crafty painted shelf. (I'm pretty sure it's not even described as a shelf but I don't know what else to call it :)). I knew EXACTLY what I was going to do with it. AND I. WAS. STOKED.

Priced at only $4.99, this baby was going home with me. I loved the bead board backing and loved that it had a place for hooks...those wooden dowels were about to be thrown in the trash.

Take a closer look at those beautifully placed blue dots. Just gorgeous!!! :)

So with some spray paint and lovely new hooks in hand, I was ready to go!

Are you ready for the finished product?! Da Da Dah!!!

After I painted it, I just roughed it up on the edges and screwed in the new hooks. I'm absolutely in love with how it turned out. This will now be home to keep-mail, keys and hubby's toys (i.e. wallet, pocket knife and watch).

I'm even more in love with how cheap it was.

Shelf- $4.99
Paint- $0.96
Hooks- $5.00

TOTAL- $11.00 and one Happy Heather :)

Finally...Spare Bedroom Reveal!!!

No, I am not dead. Last week was crazy busy! My new nephew decided to make his appearance last Tuesday night. Needless to say, the blog was put on the back burner :)

Little Tristan...Only a couple hours old.

My honey and I spent a few days with this little guy and when we returned, had a busy weekend.

Once again...blog on the back burner.

So hopefully some of you will be as excited as I am about this room that I think turned out SO. CUTE. I was able to get one dreadful before shot. This was after a little bit of cleaning, mind you...

YUCK! Much of that is going to the thrift store ASAP. Notice the Christmas wreath that was never put away. Oops! Maybe this is why we haven't had many visitors the last couple months. haha

Here is the after...

LOVE this old wooden trunk. Found this jewel on KSL (Utah's version of Craigslist) for $10 bones. It's home to all of my purses...shhh! Today, before I finished putting everything together, I ran to DI. Came home with a few more things that worked in here just perfect!

Picked this up, WITH the candle, for a whopping 75 cents!

And this chicken wire basket was NOT going home with anyone else! I probably would have started a fight if anyone else were after it. $3 baby!

ISN'T SHE A BEAUTY?!

On the other wall, is this. I'm pretty excited about a real collage wall :) I got the red magnetic board at DI for $6 along with the mirror for $1.50. The rusted, metal gardening tools came in a little boxed set I got while antiquing in Montana. The old truck picture is actually a greeting card that I found at a killer upscale decorating store in Ogden. Framed that baby in a thrift store frame/mat and I love it. I had planned on painting that frame and call me crazy...but I love the old look of it. The scratches and dings make it that much prettier :)

This is on the wall at the foot of the bed between the bedroom door and the closet doors. Found that cute red frame with dried flowers in it at a yard sale a couple summers back for just a few bucks.

Also found this on an antiquing adventure in Montana. Coolest level ever! Thought it fit perfect in here.

There ya have it folks, my new spare bedroom :) Oh...I was slightly sick of the bedding that was in here as well. So, I ripped this comforter set off of our master bed. No big deal, right?! Just the need to buy something else for the master. But don't you worry...I have before and afters of that one!

I'll be posting that one real soon!

Come back and visit y'all!

Spare Bedroom Make-over

A few months back our laptop crashed. At that point, we decided we wanted a desktop instead of purchasing a new laptop. There was only one problem.

The internet connection was in our spare bedroom...not the office.

About 10 o'clock one night, we decided we wanted to switch the 2 rooms. We went and purchased the new desktop and stayed up until about 3 AM getting the new office just how we wanted it. The poor spare bedroom, on the other hand, has been in shambles ever since. Just before Christmas, I had almost gotten it just the way I had envisioned....only to wake up Christmas morning to a brand new TV for our master bedroom. I had been dreaming for months of watching movies every night as I lay in bed. This presented a new problem...

I needed the armoir that was in the spare bedroom, IN MY MASTER!

Just after Christmas, we got OUR room just perfect. (I bet you can't guess what's coming next)

That poor spare bedroom was still in a disarray! (No...I didn't take before pics...wishing I would have)

I finally decided to tackle it this week! So, today I went to DI (Utah's largest thrift store). And boy, did I find me some treasures!

I GOT ALL THESE GOODIES FOR JUST $14!!! I was thrilled. (the small mat in front is for my sister...matches her home just perfect. It was only 50 cents) Everything else, except for the bats (aren't they just darling...Only $1 a piece) are going in the spare bedroom.

I have a lot of spray painting on my hands today, but you won't hear me complaining :) And hopefully tomorrow, I'll have the reveal!

Stay tuned!

Pretty excited about that little wooden tool box/planter box.

I love these little guys! They caught
my eye right as I was leaving the
store.

A Few of My Favorite Things

Well folks, the time has finally come for my first "real" blog post. I'm super excited to be fulfilling my dream. Yes..I'm a nerd. A decorating nerd none the less! :) I have hundreds of blog posts running through my head, but today I wanted to share a few of my all-time favorite things....things that I use to decorate in almost every room of my house.

Now, this is my very first blog. I am certainly not a pro at this! I'm actually pretty unsure of what I am doing AT. ALL. So, DON'T JUDGE ME. :) Just enjoy!

I'll be back very soon with more creations, organizing shin-digs, and decorating adventures inside my home.

No. 1 Blue Mason Jars
These babies can be used for almost anything!

No. 2 Hydrangeas

These are my absolute favorite flowers! I love the country
feeling they bring to any space. And after all, "country"
is what I'm going for.

No. 3 Old Books

These old cook books work great on the kitchen hutch!

A few stacked here and there just add character and charm.

No. 4 Random Thrift Store Finds

Fell in love with this little gadget...
especially the color!

This baby is just a gem! One day I'll
get to hang it on a fun patio as a lantern. But
for now, it works very well on top of the TV
cabinet.

    That's all folks!

DIY Decorative Frames

As a first post, here's a sneak peak of one of my past projects. These DIY decorative frames are easy to make, and add a lot of character to a little space.
